Over the course of a few months, the well-known animated characters return, this time on the side of LeBron James in Space Jam: A New Legacy. If they failed to do so in 1996 against a group of aliens dubbed The Monstars, they now have the opportunity to do so with the zogeheten The Goon Squad. In conjunction with the publication of these images, cast member Don Cheadle stated that Michael Jordan, the basketball icon and star of the original Space Jam, would appear in A New Legacy. Cheadle told Access, "Michael Jordan is in the film." "But not in the manner you'd think," Cheadle said cryptically after a short pause. A New Legacy premieres in cinemas and on HBO Max on July 16. The initial trailer featured LeBron James in the film's starring role, which is a mix of live-action and CGI.
