Metal Gear is arguably one of the most well-known and critically praised video game franchises ever. Metal Gear Solid is essentially the same set of games as the first, but with a lovely high definition presentation for anyone who missed out on the initial run. The superb gameplay is still present, so players who want to get back into Snake's camo and bandana will not be disappointed. The games are visually gorgeous, and they really demonstrate how good they were when they first came out on the Playstation. Peace Walker, in example, suffers from several strange quality dips as a result of being a PSP release. Snake's player model is very impressive, but the environs, which have been upscaled from a lower quality, sometimes appear noticeably less so.

It's no secret that the Metal Gear Solid community is divided over the impending Metal Gear Survive. Metal Gear Solid devotees on PS4 may soon have some iconic Metal Gear Solid experiences to look forward to, thanks to the game's break from series traditions and the abrupt departure of franchise creator Hideo Kojima. On Reddit, fans have observed that game studio Armature has added the PlayStation 4 to its list of platforms for its Metal Gear Solid HD Collection adaptation. Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, for those unfamiliar, includes upgraded visuals and trophy support for Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Konami announced on April 22, 2013, that a new version of the collection, Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection, will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 3. All of the titles from the HD Collection are included on the first disc, as well as Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on the second disc and voucher tickets for the original Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions.
