Matt Tranchin, president of the March for Science, said, âNow, more than ever, we need science-informed policies and practices to safeguard the public and preserve our democracy. As a Texan who is unable to vote by mail during a pandemic due to our state's short-sighted election regulations, it serves as a stark reminder that we need elected leaders who accept science and listen to public health authorities.â
Richard Linklater's Dazed and Confused, named the fourth best stoner film of all time by CelebStoner, continues to connect with moviegoers and potheads 27 years after its 1993 premiere. Members of the original cast recently gathered to do a table read of the script as a fundraiser for the Voto Latino Foundation in order to urge people to vote in the current presidential election. It was the first reunion of the cast since the tenth anniversary celebration in Austin in 2003. "The last day of high school in Austin, 1976, is a time for shenanigans and a lot of cannabis," according to the CelebStoner review. As was the case with Diner, a number of the cast members of this stoner comedy classic went on to have successful careers, including Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck, Parker Posey, Rory Cochrane, Joey Lauren Adams, and Milla Jovovich.
Around two dozen members of Dazed and Confused's massive star-studded ensemble will attend the reunion, including McConaughey, Parker Posey, Anthony Rapp, Adam Goldberg, Wiley Wiggins, and, of course, Ben Affleck, who portrayed the film's most hissable character, who fortunately gets his comeuppance. Following the screening, Patton Oswalt will chair a Q&A session. Will anybody ever do an act as funny as Shia LaBeouf snorting his way through the Fast Times read? On October 11, you'll find out. In addition to March for Science, the night's selected charities include the Voto Latino Foundation's initiative to increase voter registration in Texas. You may make a donation here. (Courtesy of EW)
