[edit] The University of Richmond dates all the way back to a June 8, 1830 conference of the Baptist General Association of Virginia. [7] The BGAV determined "that the Baptists of this State establish an education association for the sake of ministry enhancement." Thus was founded the Virginia Baptist Education Society. However, the association lacked the funding necessary to build a functional school. Meanwhile, they requested that their vice-president, Rev. Edward Baptist, "take young men desiring to prepare for the ministry into his house." Baptist graduated from HampdenâSydney College in 1813. [8] In August 1830, William Allgood, the school's first student, traveled to Baptist's Dunlora Plantation to take courses in "a three- or four-room structure." In its first year, the school, which became known as Dunlora Academy, accepted a total of nine pupils. After two years, the group bought "Spring Farm" for $4,000. It is situated around five miles north of Richmond. The Virginia Baptist Seminary was established on this site on July 1, 1832, and courses started on July 4 under the supervision of Robert Ryland.
Mithila University was formed on August 5, 1972, by a Government of Bihar Ordinance that was afterwards passed by legislatures. The Bihar State Universities Act, 1976 governs the University. The University was renamed LALIT NARAYAN MITHILA UNIVERSITY on 28 April 1980 by University notice No. 6760-7244. The University's geographical authority spans four districts in Bihar: Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, and Begusarai. Apart from two government institutions â Darbhanga Medical College & Hospital and Rural Institute, Birouli, Samastipur, the university includes 43 constituent colleges and 25 affiliated colleges. Under section 2 f and 12(B) of the U.G.C. Act, 1956, 42 constituent institutions and seven associated colleges are registered.
According to statistics, an increasing number of college students already have a bachelor's degree. They attend institutions to get applied education focused on developing specific practical skills [16]. HEC Montral, the graduate business school of the Universit de Montral, has Canada's biggest multilingual management library. Its archives include more than 375,000 items. Each year, the library receives about half a million visits [17].
