The public didn't understand Jean Bugatti's Arolithe concept when it debuted in Paris in 1935. The body panels were riveted externally because it was made of Elektron, a light but combustible magnesium alloy. The Arolithe was the most sophisticated car of its time, thanks to a new chassis (T57) and a new quadruple overhead-cam engine. Even so, it was too much to process. Ettore Bugatti was dissatisfied, and the Arolithe was soon forgotten. It's still a mystery where it disappeared. It may become a war victim or be scrapped for parts. The Type 57SC Atlantic was one of the most recognizable Bugatti automobiles from the original Bugatti era, with flowing coup lines and a strong dorsal seam extending from the front to the back end of the vehicle. The body panels of the 1935 Arolithe idea, on which the 57SC was based, were made of Elektron composite. Because the alloy, despite being a robust and lightweight material, was exceedingly combustible when exposed to high temperatures, the engineers had to rivet the panels together from the outside. The 57SC Atlantics were built with plain aluminum bodies, albeit the dorsal seams were kept for flair.
The mirror caps and the bottom of the active rear wing are painted in the tricolor French flag, while other components such as the brake callipers and wheel centre caps are painted in French Racing Blue.
